Yesterday in class we began learning about Bus stop division. This is to help students solve division problems, particularly word problems, when multiplication facts cannot be used. Below is a great website for practicing with step by step instructions.

Today, students in LA’s 18 and 19 got to play detective as they attempted to solve the mystery of who murdered Mrs Fazzino! (don’t worry, Mrs Fazzino is safe in Melbourne on holiday, it was all staged). When students arrived at school today it was to find the LA18 office closed and sealed with crime scene and hazard tape. Students were informed that we had staged a murder for them to investigate for the day.
In groups of three, student examined the murder scene, collected evidence and mapped the crime. They then had the opportunity to ask the two main suspects (Miss Mac and I) some questions to help determine what exactly happened. At the end of the day students presented a keynote on what they thought had happened and why. As we still have some students left to present, the answer to the mystery won’t be revealed until tomorrow. Please find below some pictures from today.
